The Lightning Fury Amazon — better known as the Javazon — is the fastest pack-clearing build in Diablo II: Resurrected, full stop. Lightning Fury sends bolts arcing to every nearby enemy the moment your javelin connects, and with Pierce stacked, a single throw can wipe out a dense pack of monsters before they've even reached you. Pair that with Charged Strike for single-target boss damage, and you've got a build that's dominant from mid-Nightmare all the way through Hell farming.
Why Play a Javazon
- Unmatched pack-clear speed — nothing in the game deletes dense monster groups (Secret Cow Level, Arcane Sanctuary, Chaos Sanctuary) as fast as Lightning Fury.
- Real boss damage too — Charged Strike is one of the highest single-target DPS skills in the game once you're geared, so you're not sacrificing single-target power for AoE.
- Two clear farming spots with zero lightning immunes — Arcane Sanctuary and the Secret Cow Level are both safe zones for this build, making them ideal leveling and farming grounds.
Core Skills
- Lightning Fury (max first) — your main AoE skill. Bolts chain outward on impact and multiply further with Pierce, which is what makes this build feel unfair against grouped enemies.
- Charged Strike (max second) — your single-target answer. Releases multiple charged bolts on hit, and against a large hitbox like Baal or Diablo, the damage is enormous.
- Lightning Bolt / Lightning Strike (max after LF + CS) — synergies that push the damage of your main two skills higher; don't skip these once LF and Charged Strike are maxed.
- Pierce (1 point, invest early) — aim for roughly 63% pierce chance once item bonuses are factored in. This is what turns a single javelin throw into a chain reaction through a pack.
- Valkyrie (1 point) — a genuinely tanky pet that absorbs aggro and buys you time to reposition.
Stat Allocation
- Strength: just enough to equip your gear.
- Dexterity: enough to equip gear only — Javazons move and throw too fast to lean on max block, so don't overinvest here. (The exception is a niche Uber variant built around Stormshield, which does target 75% block — not the standard build.)
- Vitality: everything else. With Call to Arms active for Battle Orders, target 2000+ life for comfortable Hell farming.
- Energy: none. Mana comes from your mercenary's Insight aura pre-Infinity, leech, and potions — never spend points here.
Breakpoints That Actually Matter
Two numbers separate a smooth Javazon from a frustrating one:
- 52% Increased Attack Speed — the ideal IAS breakpoint for Lightning Fury's throw animation. 30% IAS is the bare minimum you want before farming Hell content.
- 86% Faster Hit Recovery — hitting this breakpoint means you're rarely stun-locked by incoming hits, which matters a lot given how little the build leans on defense otherwise.
Gearing the Build
Weapon: Titan's Revenge is the signature javelin here — built-in Amazon skill bonus and massive enhanced damage. Upgrading gear should almost always start with this slot.
Shield: Spirit Monarch is the standard budget-to-midgame pick — great Faster Cast Rate, mana, and resist-all for very little investment, and honestly good enough to farm Hell comfortably on. Stormshield is the defensive best-in-slot option — massive block rate, damage reduction, and one of the tankiest shields in the game, ideal if you want to push toward the Uber-farming block variant of this build.
For the most expensive, highest-damage variant, socket a Jeweler's Monarch of Deflecting with four 5/5 Lightning Rainbow Facets — each jewel adds 5% Lightning skill damage as long as you keep dying to Lightning (the "Death" facet variant), stacking up to 20% extra Lightning damage across all four sockets on top of the shield's own block and resist bonuses. It's the chase-grade version of this slot once you're fully geared and ready to min-max damage output.
Helm: Valkyrie Wing is a great cheap early pick — +2 Amazon skills for very little investment, making it an easy first helm upgrade while leveling. Once you're ready to gear up properly, Griffon's Eye is the strongest option for this build — its elemental resistance penetration adds real damage to both Lightning Fury and Charged Strike, on top of the +skills and Faster Cast Rate. Andariel's Visage remains a solid alternative if you want built-in life leech instead, and Harlequin Crest if you'd rather prioritize magic find.
Armor: Lionheart is a great cheap early runeword — solid all-around stats, resistances, and life for very little rune investment, making it an easy first armor upgrade while leveling. For endgame, Chains of Honor is best-in-slot — the big +2 skills, damage boost, and resistances make it one of the strongest all-around armors in the game for this build. Enigma is the other top-tier option — you trade some of Chains' raw stats for Teleport, which is huge for repositioning fast between packs and skipping dead ground entirely. budget.
Belt: Razortail — pierce chance and resistances built specifically for javelin Amazons.
Boots: War Traveler for Magic Find and movement speed while you farm.
Gloves: magic or rare gloves rolling +Javelin/Spear skills and 20% IAS (commonly called "3/20s") are the standard pick — they're a big part of hitting your IAS breakpoint.

Also keep a Renewed Crack of the Heavens Lightning Sunder Charm in your inventory — it's close to non-negotiable for this build, since a large chunk of Hell content is lightning-immune and Lightning Fury does nothing to those monsters without it. Just be aware it also cuts your own lightning resistance significantly, so make sure your other gear covers that gap.
Mercenary Setup
Run an Act 2 Offensive (Might) mercenary and equip him with Infinity. Infinity's Conviction aura is essential for breaking Lightning Immunity on most Hell monsters — without it, you'll be leaning on Jab and your Sunder Charm far more often than you'd like.
Best Farming Spots
Secret Cow Level — Lightning Fury's density scaling turns this into one of the fastest, most satisfying farms in the game. High player-count games (or /players7 in Single Player) maximize the payoff.
Chaos Sanctuary — dense packs of Doom Knights, Oblivion Knights, and Venom Lords die extremely fast to Lightning Fury, and it's a great warm-up run before pushing into a Diablo kill.
Baal Runs — the classic endgame farm loop. The Throne of Destruction waves clear fast with Lightning Fury, and Charged Strike handles Baal himself for solid single-target damage once your gear is in place.

If you want the single fastest pack-clearing build in the game and don't mind investing in a Sunder Charm to cover lightning immunity, the Javazon is close to unbeatable.
